Hyatt Announces Major Mexico, Caribbean Expansion Of Luxury Hotels And Resorts

Hyatt Hotels Corporation announced today a major expansion of high-end properties in the Caribbean and Latin America during a press conference at ILTM North America in Riviera Maya, Mexico. The pipeline includes over 20 luxury and lifestyle hotels and resorts opening through 2024.

“Latin America and the Caribbean are top leisure destinations for global travelers, and we continue to grow Hyatt’s brand presence in this important region to offer unique experiences to high-end travelers in new markets and sought-after destinations,” says Camilo Bolaños, Hyatt’s Senior Vice President of Development, Latin America & the Caribbean.

He adds, “These exciting new hotels and resorts across Hyatt’s portfolio of upscale hotel brands reinforce our commitment to thoughtfully growing in key markets that matter to our guests, World of Hyatt loyalty members and customers.”

Zoëtry Marigot Bay St. Lucia is part of a large expansion to Mexico, Latin America and the Caribbean ... [+] announced this morning by Hyatt Corporation during ILTM North America.

Leading the way will be the first Park Hyatt hotel in Mexico. It will be in Los Cabos. There will also be the first Andaz hotel in Mexico City. There is already one at the Mayakoba Resort bordering the Caribbean Sea.

Other openings include Hyatt Place Monterrey Valle, Hyatt House Monterrey Valle/San Pedro, Thompson Monterrey and NOMU San Miguel de Allende, part of The Unbound Collection by Hyatt.

Powered by Hyatt’s $2.7 billion acquisition of Apple Leisure Group last year, there will be a near 20% expansion of Hyatt’s Inclusive Collection.

Openings in Mexico include Secrets Impression Moxché, Secrets Impression Isla Mujeres, Secrets Tulum Resort & Beach Club, Dreams Cozumel Cape Resort & Spa and Dreams Estrella del Mar Mazatlán Golf & Spa Resort.

Also slated to welcome guests are Dreams Flora Resort & Spa and Secrets Tides Punta Cana and Zoëtry Marigot Bay St. Lucia and Secrets St. Lucia Resort & Spa.

John McMahon, CEO of luxury travel agency Five Star Alliance tells Forbes, “The Caribbean/Latin America all-inclusive market operates differently at a premium level than typical hotels. The roadmap to growth will move much quicker and give Hyatt's customer base a door to the largest leisure markets in the world backed by a global brand that is trusted.”

The announcement this morning follows recent openings in the region, including Dreams Karibana Cartagena Golf & Spa Resort, Hyatt Centric San Salvador and Hotel La Compañia in Panama City.

As part of the expansion, World of Hyatt are eligible for Bonus Journeys. Through Nov. 15, 2022, loyalty program members can register to maximize earnings with double points on qualifying stays of two or more nights at over 1,100 participating Hyatt hotels globally for stays completed by Dec. 20, 2022.

Mileage mavens also can register for Nights Count Double. Each tier-qualifying night eligible stays at more than 65 participating Inclusive Collection properties in the Americas will count as two nights towards World of Hyatt status instead of one for stays completed by the same date.
